At Oleve, we don't just talk about sustainability; we make it happen. Our investment in Sigri and our olive trees have contributed to making our estate, Faros Estate, an important habitat for hundreds of birds and animals, making Oleve estate an important biodiversity core on our island. Moreover, the quality of the soil on the estate remains unchanged as the roots of the olive tree have the unique ability to rejuvenate and make the soil more fertile.
At Oleve, rather than using chemical fertilizers, we use natural methods, such as the compost from the pruning of the trees and Posidonia Oceanica seaweed found on our island.
We do not deplete our natural resources. On the contrary, we recycle them and contribute to life.
Organic seaweed fertilizers are rich in trace elements such as magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron and nitrogen which are beneficial for olive trees.
We respect the environment and contribute in all the ways and means we can to enhance the sustainability and biodiversity of both our estate and the broader region.
Before settling here, the Sigri area was arid and barren. It’s not anymore, as our olive trees increase the humidity and help maintain the water table in the area. In addition, our olive trees reduce the ambient temperature through their shading and biological processes.
At the same time, we have eliminated the carbon footprint of 2,000 people and increased the flora and fauna of Sigri village with numerous plants.
