Matcha Lemonade
Serves 3-4
Ingredients
1/2 cup sugar (or alternative sweetener, see notes)
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1 cup cold water
1 teaspoon Organic Ceremonial Matcha
ice to serve
lemon or lime slices to garnish
spearmint to garnish
additional cold water to serve, if desired (see steps below)
Method
Stir the sugar and boiling water in a jug until dissolved and let cool.
When cooled, stir in the lemon juice. This is our lemonade concentrate.
Pour the cold water into a jar with a tight-fitting lid and add the matcha powder (it’s best to add the matcha after the water so it doesn’t get lumpy). Secure the lid and shake vigorously until incorporated.
To serve, pour one part (1/4 cup) lemonade concentrate into a glass, add lots of ice and then pour one part (1/4 cup) matcha tea over the top. Garnish and enjoy!
Suggestions:
The above ratio makes a strongly flavoured lemonade. If it’s too sour add some water until you find the ideal ratio for you. Keep in mind the ice will further dilute the drink as it melts.
If you prefer to skip the ice then use one part lemonade concentrate, one part matcha, one part very cold water.
Notes:
Ol-eve has many delicious sugar alternatives for you to experiment with. Try making the lemonade with honey, coconut sugar or maple sugar. Calculate the amounts based on the stated equivalent to regular sugar and adjust as needed.
